Learning and development

Grow your skills. Feel confident in your role.

Whether you're new to Scouts or have been volunteering for years, there's always something new to learn.

At Wansdyke Scouts, we want every volunteer to feel confident, supported and valued. You'll have access to flexible learning opportunities, practical skills and local support to help you get the most out of your role.

Getting started with learning

Scouts' Learning Tree helps you develop the knowledge and skills you need, at your own pace.

Access your learning

You can complete learning, check your progress and explore new opportunities through Scouts' online learning platform.

2. Open My Learning from your account.

3. Choose the learning you need or explore what's available.

First aid and practical learning

Some roles require First Response learning, while others may benefit from additional practical skills or specialist qualifications.

You can find out more about First Response and other learning requirements on the national Scouts website.

Where to find a First Response course

  • Wansdyke delivers and funds First Response training for all volunteers. See our calendar for upcoming dates and information on how to book.
  • If several volunteers in your Group need training, contact Stuart Whale (District Lead Volunteer – Volunteering Development) to explore the possibility of arranging a course locally.

Need some support?

You're not expected to figure everything out on your own.

Your Team Leader and our District Volunteering Development Team can help you understand your learning requirements, find opportunities and develop your skills.

For local learning enquiries, contact Stuart Whale, District Lead Volunteer – Volunteering Development.
