Planning a camp, sleepover or residential experience?

What you need to do:

  • Make sure the appropriate Nights Away permit arrangements are in place.
  • Complete your event planning and risk assessments.
  • Submit your Nights Away Notification (NAN) through My Membership at least 7 days before your event.
  • Wait for approval from the District Nights Away team before going ahead.
  • Notifications received less than seven days before an event will be declined.

Adventurous activities

Some activities need additional approval, permits or qualifications to keep everyone safe.

When do I need to submit a notification?

In line with POR 9a.1.3, Wansdyke Scouts requires a District Activity Notification (DAN) for:

  • Activities outside the District boundary, including visits and activities taking place beyond our geographical area.
  • Activities covered by the Adventurous Activity Permit Scheme, regardless of location.
  • Activities requiring specialist qualifications or training, such as shooting, tomahawk throwing or swimming.

Not sure whether your activity is outside the District? Check our District boundary map.

How to submit a notification

If you're unsure whether a notification is needed, submit one or speak to the District Activities team for advice.
